Ruthless Vows by Rebecca Ross
Quote:
"But I must remind myself that sometimes we write for ourselves and sometimes we write for others. And sometimes those lines blur when we least expect them to. Whenever such happened in my past... I remember that I have only been strengthened by it."
Blurb: Two weeks have passed since Iris returned home bruised and heartbroken from the front, but the war is far from over.
Roman is missing, lost behind enemy lines, with no memory of his past, or Iris. Hoping his memories return, he begins to write again - but this time for the enemy.
When a strange letter arrives through his wardrobe door, he strikes up a correspondence with a penpal who seems at once mysterious... and strangely familiar.
As their connection deepens, the two of them will risk their very hearts and futures to change the tides of the war.
The stunning and epic new fantasy novel by Rebecca Ross. Filled with adventure, hope, heartbreak and love.

My Personal Views:
Ruthless Vows is the second and final installment in the Letters of Enchantment duet by Rebecca Ross.
In the first book, we follow Iris and Roman as they begin as rival journalists who ultimately find themselves on the warfront as correspondents. There, amidst the chaos, their relationship blossoms into love. In this sequel, however, Roman has lost his memories and is now a correspondent writing for Dacre's cause. Will he ever regain his memories? How will the war unfold, and what lies ahead for Iris and Roman?
While the second book has a slower pace compared to the first, it delves deeper into the stories of Dacre and Enva. We get plenty of scenes exploring their past and unraveling what truly happened between them.
Many lingering questions, rumors, and mysteries from the first book find their answers here. The ending, along with the involvement of all the characters, was astonishing and deeply heartwarming. There were moments so poignant that I found tears streaming down my face—war, after all, leaves devastation in its wake.
Iris and Roman's enchanting chemistry and emotional depth carry over beautifully into the sequel. I especially loved the way they continued to send letters to each other through their wardrobes. Ross’s portrayal of their connection was wistful and moving.
Roman stole my heart once again with his powerful speech when he confronted Dacre. That scene was incredibly impactful, beautifully written, and a true highlight of the book. Rebecca Ross has crafted yet another masterpiece with this installment.
Beyond the central characters, the magical world and the story of Dacre and Enva were equally captivating. Iris’s bravery also stood out—her strength and resilience were inspiring throughout the book.
Despite the slower pacing, there’s little to fault in this novel. The storyline, characters, and magical world are all richly imagined and wonderfully executed.
This was such a delightful and memorable read. I look forward to picking up another Rebecca Ross book in the future.
